Amar’e Stoudemire suffered no ligament or tendon damage after punching a glass case containing a fire extinguisher Monday, but he will not play in Game 3 of the New York Knicks’ first-round series against the Miami Heat, a team source told ESPNNewYork.com on Tuesday.

The forward saw a hand specialist on Tuesday, the source said, and could still miss more time in the series.

Stoudemire punched the case while heading to the Knicks locker room in Miami after a 104-94 loss put New York in a 2-0 hole in the first-round series.

Stoudemire was treated by paramedics and team doctors from both the Knicks and the Heat and was seen leaving the arena with his left forearm and hand heavily bandaged and his arm being supported by a sling. He suffered the laceration on the inside of his palm, on the side of his hand closest to the pinkie.
